The connection with greenery and nature was a condition for the current owners, who were looking for an apartment with a private garden in the heart of the city — a true rarity. Just as rare is the avocado tree growing in the courtyard of this 1950s building, a former artisan workshop later converted into a residence.
The apartment covers about 150 square meters, with a central body designed as a double-height duplex featuring a mezzanine and large windows. The former annexed workshops unfold on a single level, wrapping around a small inner courtyard to form a C-shaped layout. A white shell with crisp floors and walls — almost clinical — becomes the setting for Cipollino Apuano marble with its cool, greenish veins; lacquered walnut inserts; and mirrors and stainless steel that reflect and radiate light. The result is a material and chromatic contrast that culminates in a warm minimalism.
